Making & Keeping Those New Years Resolutions!
noun: resolution; plural noun: resolutions
a firm decision to do or not to do something
Hard to believe that we’re pretty much through the first month of the New Year! The days are starting to get a little longer, for the most part we’re all back “into the groove” after the Christmas and New Years celebrations & life is all good! With all New Years there always seems to be some resolutions we all make! How are you making out with yours? Still on track? For me – anytime I make a new resolution or set new goals the #1 thing I struggle with is finding the energy and the time. So for better or worse – here are some ideas that continue to help me stay on track:
1. Get up early. ( this means maybe going to bed a little earlier and not eating too late as well! ) That extra hour around 5/5:30 is a golden time for me. Less destractions and not too many incoming calls or emails. It’s amazing how much work can be done before 7am on most days.
2. Block out your time. Sounds simply enough I suppose but in the past year I’ve put my iPhone to work by using my timer and setting it for 45-60 min. time blocks for staying on task for which ever objective you might be working on. Do your best not to answer the phone or check emails during this time.
3. Write down your goals. Whether it’s for the day, the week, the month or the year – having something written down is a powerful way of staying on top of things & it’s a great form of self-accountability!
